Recent findings from the CDC outline key trends in the prevalence and treatment of ADHD in the United States. The CDC notes that ADHD is diagnosed in boys more often than in girls, but only 11.4% of children receive the diagnosis. The condition frequently occurs with other conditions, most commonly behavioral issues and anxiety.
The data also shows that treatment patterns are shifting. In 2022, about 30% of children with ADHD received no treatment, up from 23% in 2016. At the same time, the number of children receiving behavioral treatment specifically increased from 2016, reflecting changes in care access and clinical practice.
